Autumn Engagement Session on Sacandaga Lake | Saratoga Springs Wedding Photographers

I had to share these photographs today because going through my images, these pictures made me think about why I like to photograph weddings and engagements in Upstate New York.  Especially in the Fall.  We have a really beautiful Autumn in Upstate NY.  The colors of the leaves are usually very brilliant and the skies are often very dramatic.  During Indian Summer, the days are warm and the nights are cool–so people don’t mind being outdoors in the sunshine.  The backdrops are stunning because we still have large areas that have not been developed.

 The first photo was made by the side of the road overlooking Lake Sacandaga in the Adirondacks.  This is by a road that this couple rides their motorcycles past every summer.  Literally, we pulled over by the side of the road, hopped a guardrail and made the photo.  It was a few weeks ago, so the foliage was past the peak for color.  However, we still had some color and the sky was a brilliant blue.  It was late afternoon and the light was amazing.  The leaves were really crunchy, so they added some interesting texture to the foreground.

The next photo was created actually down by the lake.  Driving to meet this couple, I had been struck by the clouds in the sky and how perfect they looked.  I just knew I needed in incorporate a dramatic sky in this session.  The lake was very low, so we were able to go quite far out.  The area where we were standing is usually totally submerged and pretty deep.  I knew I wanted to do a silhouette of this couple with the sky in detail in the background.

This was a very fun Engagement Session for me because we had so many different areas to choose from.  I like doing totally different things for each couple.  I also like to make sure that when we do an Engagement Session we incorporate as many personal details as we can.  I have never been a fan of the one photo fits all approach.
