A Backyard Wedding Is Awesome!
Last Summer I had the immense pleasure of photographing Alyssa and Bryson’s Backyard Wedding in Ballston Spa. This wedding was extra special because I have known the Mother of the Bride since before Alyssa was born!
When talking with Alyssa’s Mom, Kim, she had said that it would be laid back and fun. In the back of my mind, I was a little worried because Backyard Weddings have so many moving pieces and parts. However, everyone was super chill and it really was a very fun day. Bonus was my friend Tina was there doing hair and makeup for Lipstick N Lashes!
Details Are Everything At Backyard Weddings
Backyard Weddings naturally lend themselves to highly personal details. Everything has usually been personally attended to by the people involved. Things I loved at this wedding–the Bridesmaids made their own bouquets from local blooms, the Bride’s niece did the Bride’s pedicure, the Father of the Groom officiated, the couple said private vows after the ceremony, the cutest little flower girls, and–the Ceremony site! The Ceremony was held at a neighbor’s home in their absolutely incredible garden. A Natural Color Palette
Alyssa had her girls choose their own dresses and gave them just a general idea of color–a sage green. I actually like this because the colors the girls chose were very flattering and melded well with the garden. It also gave a lot of choices for the flowers in the bouquets. The gentlemen were wearing a light greenish/grey suit with green ties and pocket squares. And the little flower girls were in the sweetest green dresses with delicate pastel floral ribbon embroideries.
Private Vows at a Home Wedding
Alyssa and Bryson chose to exchange Private Vows after their ceremony alone together in the house. Many people are choosing to do this–you can read more about Private Vows in our Blog Post.
Midsummer Night’s Dream Backyard Wedding Reception
The dinner and dancing for Alyssa and Bryson’s backyard Wedding took place in the Bride’s family’s backyard. It featured paper lanterns and fairy lights–Yay! Dinner was barbecue and the cake was a naked cake–perfect for the casual and intimate setting.
