Are you ready to pop the question?
As a Wedding Photographer for many years, I have had a front seat to some pretty fantastic moments in my clients’ lives. Proposals are one of those special milestone moments. My favorite proposals to photograph are where some time and effort has gone into making the moment unique to the couple. Whether it is simple or elaborate, the moments that resonate the most truly reflect the couple and their relationship. Do you need some help?
Here are some of our favorite romantic proposal ideas to make your engagement memorable:
A Getaway Weekend To Your Favorite Destination:
Whether you like to ski, hike or spend time on the Lake, if you enjoy spending time doing an outdoor activity in a favorite place, definitely include it!
Include Your Pets:
Our furry friends often have a front row seat to our evolving relationships, so why not include them? Besides, they are just super cute. Bonus points if you can include signage for some photos.
Your Favorite Park:
If you spend time in a local park, it can be a very meaningful place to get engaged. Many times, the simplest ideas are the most meaningful–as well as being easier to pull off. Also, every time you go back you will remember this wonderful moment.
A Styled Picnic
Who doesn’t love a picnic? An outdoor picnic that has been specially styled can include friends and family and can instantly elevate your proposal. Plus, a picnic is just fun!
A Magical Forest Setting
We have some pretty enchanting forests and hiking spots. As a photographer, I often find the lighting inspirational–which makes for some pretty great photos.
Incorporate the Season:
Seasonal elements add another layer to any Engagement Session and especially a Proposal Shoot.
Recreate Your First Date
Plan a Fake Magazine Wedding Shoot
Saving the best for last–the faux Wedding Shoot idea. This is next level planning, but if you can pull it off–EPIC! Tell your partner you have been selected to be models for a Styled Magazine Shoot. They won’t think it is strange if a Photographer is there. Get dressed up, start posing and then pop the question during the shoot. I actually have a Photographer friend who proposed to his lady this way and it was amazing.
