Romantic Proposal Ideas

Are you ready to pop the question?

Romantic Surpise Proposal ideas
I was hiding behind a house before this proposal happened.

As a Wedding Photographer for many years,  I have had a front seat to some pretty fantastic moments in my clients’ lives.  Proposals are one of those special milestone moments.  My favorite proposals to photograph are where some time and effort has gone into making the moment unique to the couple.  Whether it is simple or elaborate, the moments that resonate the most truly reflect the couple and their relationship.  Do you need some help?

Here are some of our favorite romantic proposal ideas to make your engagement memorable:

A Getaway Weekend To Your Favorite Destination:

Romantic Proposal Ideas
Lake George was the perfect location for this couple–they love vacationing in the area.

Whether you like to ski, hike or spend time on the Lake, if you enjoy spending time doing an outdoor activity in a favorite place, definitely include it!

Include Your Pets:

Romantic Proposal Ideas
This couple included their fur baby in their Engagement Photos.

Our furry friends often have a front row seat to our evolving relationships, so why not include them?  Besides, they are just super cute.  Bonus points if you can include signage for some photos.

Your Favorite Park:

Congress Park in Saratoga is a popular spot for Engagement Photos.

If you spend time in a local park, it can be a very meaningful place to get engaged.  Many times, the simplest ideas are the most meaningful–as well as being easier to pull off.  Also, every time you go back you will remember this wonderful moment.

A Styled Picnic

Branding for Business Photos
A styled picnic can be a fun way to include speciaal family and friends.

Who doesn’t love a picnic?  An outdoor picnic that has been specially styled can include friends and family and can instantly elevate your proposal.  Plus, a picnic is just fun!

A Magical Forest Setting

The forest can be a magical spot to get engaged.

We have some pretty enchanting forests and hiking spots.  As a photographer, I often find the lighting inspirational–which makes for some pretty great photos.

Incorporate the Season:

Fall Romantic Proposal Ideas
I loved being able to incorporate fall leaves in this detail shot from an Engagement Shoot last November.

Seasonal elements add another layer to any Engagement Session and especially a Proposal Shoot.

Fun Proposal Ideas.
Love that this couple chose to do ice skating!

Recreate Your First Date

Was your first date at a local restaurant? Why not recreate it?

Plan a Fake Magazine Wedding Shoot

Wedding Photography Styled shoot
This image was from a Styled Wedding Shoot for Saratoga Bride with a real couple.

Saving the best for last–the faux Wedding Shoot idea.  This is next level planning, but if you can pull it off–EPIC!  Tell your partner you have been selected to be models for a Styled Magazine Shoot.  They won’t think it is strange if a Photographer is there.  Get dressed up, start posing and then pop the question during the shoot.  I actually have a Photographer friend who proposed to his lady this way and it was amazing.
